Who “WE” REALLY are

Not So Fast, Business Baby! - Dad and Buried | Business baby, Work humor, Life humor

As a small business owner, I often find myself carrying out so many little tasks simultaneously. Over here, I do the mixing, baking, churning, accounts, marketing, website management, customer service, inventory management and a million and one other things, however when, I have to post something on the website or social media, the posts say WE.

“We are going on a break”, “We are pleased to announce …” We …”

Who is “WE”, “Who are WE”?!!

In  one of my previous blog posts, I mentioned how it takes a village to run a business and in reality everything really comes together because of the support I receive constantly from my family and friends.

I wake up everyday, bombarding them with messages and questions:

–  is this colour okay? should the blue be darker or lighter?
–  this picture or that picture?
– HELP! I NEED A CAPTION!
– the riders have messed up- again ?
– what should I reply ?
–  what should I make next?
–  what do you think of..?
–  where can I find..?

And they’re just always right there – with possible solutions when I’m too frantic to figure things out myself and when I’m unable to see beyond the current situation.  They are always looking out for me, supporting, guiding, encouraging, nurturing, celebrating OUR wins and empathising when I’m struggling. They listen without judgement and constantly feed my mind.

It’s everything – From my husband’s role as the Chief Research Officer, who also gets an earful everyday about everything;
It’s my Mum, for emplyoing herself as the Business Manager and fighting my battles with riders and everybody else;
It’s my friends, near and far, for  assuming their roles in the business and doing it wholeheartedly;
It’s my siblings who “volunteer” to taste anything and everything.

It’s how they’re always low-key bragging about this business that we’ve all built together. It’s our little labour of love.

That’s why I can’t say ‘I’ in my posts.

“There’s no “I” in Team

Baking and making desserts is  truly a Labour of Love and I am privileged that I get to feel it every single day, from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed (or pass out from doing way to much. It’s really great to be part of so many peoples’ lives through dessert.

To my Unpaid Research & Development Team, Business Development Team, Product Managers, Chief Marketing Officers, Customer Rep Assistants, Hand Models, Photographers, Content Creators and Social Media Team , THANK YOU.

Thank you for believing in this dream and for being part of this story.
Thank you for being the biggest cheerleaders anyone could ever ask for.
Thank you for keeping me accountable.
Thank you for keeping me on my toes.

I look forward to seeing how this little labour of love will grow.

I hope you have a great 2023 and the years beyond.

With Love,

Aisha K.
